nu-bluz is an emerging genre characterized by thoughtful, introspective, often melancholy & socially conscious lyrics delivered through a methodic fusion of rhythms inspired by numerous musical genres, particularly: funk, blues, rock, folk, rap, hip-hop, jazz, groove and soul. nu-bluz artist are often characterized as singer-songwriters, indie, alternative, experimental, underground, groovy, funky, political/politically conscious. (Many nu-bluz artists are female vocalists.)
