Stomp and holler (also known as stomp clap hey) is a subgenre of folk-pop music that was especially popular in the early and mid-2010s. Well-known artists of this genre include Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers, and Noah Kahan.
Stomp and holler music is known for its catchy, upbeat and simplistic melodies, stomping rhythms, and shouts of “hey”, “oh”, “woah” and so forth. Due to its broad appeal, many songs of this genre, such as “Ho Hey” by The Lumineers, became worldwide radio hits.
