Oj, u zadnjih mjesec dana odlične najave, jebeni koncerti u drugoj polovici godine. Cradle of Filth u sedmom mjesecu, u desetom mjesecu Ellende, Groza i Servant (to je ranije najavljeno), a danas me apsolutno razveselila najava Alcesta u desetom mjesecu, njih sam gledao sada već davne 2011. u Ljubljani, a sada prvi puta u RH.

Hey! Dunno, I never connected you're from Croatia, but now it makes sense when we discussed some Eastern/Central European stuff, lol. I always recommend it to people in Japan, as every single person who visited your country in my social circles enjoyed it. Btw, I DID go to a nice concert there! It was Band-Maid's 10 year anniversary. While the 'maid' gimmick makes my eyes roll every time, they're pretty good musicians. The set ended up being 3.5 hours long (!), in an arena in front of 9-10k people. A lot of bigger concerts in Japan have a no smartphone policy and people honor it - no photos, no videos, just people having fun jamming to the music. This one was like this too (except one song where smartphones were permitted), so the experience was even better. I think only Japan has this policy, I feel it really works out well. Re: the 'refined' production in albums you mentioned, same here. It's not as easy as before for me to listen to raw black metal with basement production quality:D

Ran the article thru Google translate - the authors are actually very gentle towards her, despite the playback thing. Very balanced writing style. Also - lol, I never realized you were from Croatia! Addi from Solsta wasn't the bad kind of drunk in our case. He was very outgoing, friendly, and genuine. I can't make conclusions from only one event, but what you said too really makes it seem like he's a warm and kind person overall. It's refreshing, as some artists from the post scene (post-metal, post-rock, etc) can be stuck up their own ass lol. Amorphis communicated with us a lot, I expected them to be more 'straight to the show'. For me, 'Anno 1696' was rather weak for Insomnium levels. However, if you liked it, you'll like the EP even more (maybe?) Everyone says that the EP follows the 'Anno 1696' theme but the tracks are way better than the album ones. Festival in 2024 sounds right! My flight to Japan is in like 12 hours, so I want to see any concert options there first! :D

Re: Myrkur - whoa, you have to be unbelievably stupid to pull off playback on a METAL concert, especially a niche metal concert, lol. So how was the Sólstafir, did you enjoy it? I ended up going - well, to see Amorphis, but couldn't just skip over them now that I've tried them out. The Sólstafir guys were very friendly and cheerful, such an interesting contrast to their musical mood! The vocalist was also drunk as fuuuuuck :D Amorphis played their hearts out. Spectacular musicianship. I swear, Joutsen's voice is as amazing as ever. Kinda bummed they didn't play anything off Silent Waters, though, I love that album. Unrelated, but - I'm not sure if Insomnium is your cup of tea, but their latest EP and specifically 'Song of the Dusk' is so atmospheric. It took me some years to start listening to them, but they always give me a post-metal/atmospheric feeling despite being melodeath. Re: festivals, gotcha, nice viewpoint! Haven't been to a fest in 6 years, lol. We used to have good ones...

Yeah, I'll actually go back to Japan for a month in late November and I'll be on the lookout for some cool concerts :D Re: Sólstafir, in the end, I'll go see them as they support Amorphis. It's been 16 (!!) years since I last went to an Amorphis concert. Now that's a band which has been making the same album since 2006, lol. Funnily enough, I like all of their works. Usually, I don't tolerate bands 'stagnating' as Amorphis has done for such a long time. For some reason, I don't mind them doing so. Do you have any similar bands you like, even tho they are just doing the same? Semi-related, but autumn is so cool- probably the season with the biggest amount of concerts around here. I mean summer has all the festivals etc, but I much prefer going to smaller/shorter shows of 2-3 bands instead of bigger lineups. Not sure how you feel about that? I'm surrounded by people who LOVE huge-ass festivals D:

I fully agree - Molchat's Doma post-soc atmosphere/visuals don't do it for me (I mean, I'm from Eastern Europe, I'm fed up with this approach lol). However, their sound is very clean and genuine, despite them being a recent band. Very authentic late 80s experience, I got hooked! Re: visual kei, well, the vocals are partly why I get over my occasional vk phases VERY quickly :D I feel kinda bummed that even though I spent a few years living in Japan, I never got to experience a visual kei concert. They're very theatrical and expressive from what I've heard. Btw, tried several Sólstafir albums. I've gotta say I liked Köld the most, it's a very atmospheric and emotional record. Not sure if it would sound strange to you, but they're a band I'd love to listen at home, but I can't see myself going to a concert of theirs. I feel the same for many post-metal/post-black metal bands, actually. They're just too...personal/intimate? Not sure what you think. I'll give Isafjørd a listen soonish too!

Yeah, they were surprisingly good live! I'd say they get a bit too monotonous at some point, though - like 40-45 minutes of their songs live are great, but after that, it feels a bit stale. I agree with you re: the post-punk, I feel the only band that's somehow gotten REALLY popular is Molchat Doma, and I think it's partly because of their post-socialist/coldwave atmosphere. Lots of Westerners dig the aesthetics. Visual kei is really hit or miss, yeah. I usually prefer the harsher bands like DIR EN GREY that verge on avant-garde metal as much as visual kei; the softer glam metal reminiscent ones I don't like as much. I still think X Japan's "Endless Rain" from "The Last Live" is peak of live music emotions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rwJIeN1M7o (Skip to after 7:00 to feel the atmosphere, if you haven't seen it). Always gives me goosebumps and I don't even like the band that much!

Hey, no worries - I actually enjoy the 'slower' pace of how Last.fm communication often is. Nothing 'late' about your reply, I hope that work hasn't been too stressful for you :) Yeah, I'd also say that the time for She Wants Revenge has passed. They missed the boat by breaking up, then getting together again, breaking up...And some sounds are, for better or worse, reserved only for specific periods of time. I've been thinking about this, as I'm binging on some visual kei bands - the genre pretty much died after the early 2010s too...Once I end my binge, I'm going to try ''Ótta'' as per your recommendations! And thanks for the extra heads up on Isafjørd, I'm going to check them too. Been using RateYourMusic as a platform recently and my backlog of artist-to-try-out is getting bigger and bigger D: Not sure if you use the platform; I've known about it for years, but made an account and started filling my lists out just recently

Hey! Been a few months since we spoke about The 69 Eyes latest album. Y'know, She Wants Revenge just had a concert in my home city this week. I wondered whether you like them? They sound GREAT live, literally like they do in studio. I was a lot more into them 7-8 years back, but it was still fun. Also, I see you're binging on Sólstafir. Which album would you recommend me to start from? Seems like they'll be supporting Amorphis on this year's tour and I'll be going there too. :p

they have done a few covers yes, but i think their sound is one of a kind, its kind of like a eurobeat blend with power metal, it was like one of the first bands i got into when i started listening to this kind of music. you should try blind and frozen :) you are right, it is very poppish, but not cringey in my opinion, if anything, we can think of it like gateway metal for beginners ^^

Sorry, was away for a while. But yeah, that makes sense, I'm annoyed by security guys who spray people in the front rows with a water hose, I went to a summer festival and they did that. Felt really gross afterwards. As for Pete, I'm not sure when he stopped consuming drugs, or if he was on them prior to his death, but I guess even if one became clean, the damage done to the body after years of abuse is still there. It's sad so many musicians die from this. How did you like the Opeth stuff, if you had the chance to listen to it? And the song sounds nice! It's not something I would listen on a daily basis, but it does have that scorching desert vibe to it which I really like. Quite a change from Emperor and early Behemoth's grim und frostbitten atmosphere, ha ha!

Damn, sorry to hear that. Didn't Peter quit back then though? Or are you talking about the other members? I think it's because of the redesigning of the website in 2015 or so, taking away most of the cool plugins and social aspects. I also did it because I began to feel to pressured to have a perfect music library, so I thought taking a break would be a good thing to avoid the burnout. Now I just don't care about that anymore, I like seeing how my taste changed with time. I like Opeth's earlier records, such as Orchid and Morningrise, they were more gloomy and 'foresty' sounding than what they'd put out later. I haven't really listened to Me and That Man much, can you recommend me some songs / albums?

I actually don’t mind Dark Light, lots of fillers but good songs as well, I really like Wings, Vampire Heart and In the Nightside of Eden. Definitely not their best, though. And well, I guess I wouldn’t have minded wine being spilled on me by Peter as I usually wear black clothing :p I have taken a break from last fm in 2016 - 2017 as well, but before that I was your average trve kvlt metalhead, with lots of Death and Opeth and Taake scrobbles. I think it was Katatonia that paved the way for me to more melancholic, simple music. Anathema too with their Alternative 4 and Judgement albums.

I honestly couldn't yet get into Screamworks, although I like Tears on Tape. There's something about that album which I don't like but can't really put my finger on it. But hopefully I'll grow to like it with time. I always considered HIM too angsty for me and didn't like Dark Light as I considered it too soft, but after listening to Razorblade Romance I was blown away. Sadly, I have never had the chance to see Type O live, I don't think they ever even toured my part of Europe, and it wasn't until Peter died I got into them. Have you ever attended one of their shows, though? My top 3 bands are Sentenced, HIM, and Type O Negative, I'm really glad I got to see Ville live at least!

I feel the same, at first I did not like it that much, but same could be said with all the bands that turned out to be my favourites, really. I'm also really glad they played 'When Love and Death Embrace', as Greatest Lovesongs is my top HIM record
