I went into a last.fm rabbit hole, found some orthodox christian's profile and his last 10 scrobbles were, in order, Owl City (Fireflies and When Can I See You Again), League of Legends, Basshunter (All I Ever Wanted and Dota), Crazy Frog, the Polish dancing cow song, Imagine Dragons and The Living Tombstone. No hate, I just find it very endearing and comedic.

I’ve been playing these games lately on the sega Saturn, one is called Machine Head, the other called Tunnel B1. You ever heard of these games?

Despite the cover of tunnel b1, the game doesn’t really live up to that. I’m sure the guy on the cover is in horror because of the game. it’s frustrating and confusing, the controls suck, but the graphics and atmosphere are just amazing and keep me interested. It’s like wipeout if it was an fps, and in tunnels. Machine head on the other hand is amazing. It’s similar a bit to tunnel b1 but it’s more like doom. Controls suck too I might add but it’s more forgivable. You go through post apocalyptic landscapes, mutant termite nests and alter reality with keys to get around to different areas in the level. I’d recommend it if you can find a copy. it’s fairly cheap on PS1 and I’m sure you can get it free on PC. The Saturn version is different than those in some minor ways but it’s more dark and depressing and I like that. The FMV intro to the game is one of the best I’ve seen. And the music in game is almost perfect.

Social media has brainwashed an entire generation with negativity, false advice, propaganda and brought the worst of human groupthink to light. I heard there were have been studies linking the use of social media with stress and depression ,and no doubt mental health has deteriorated. These aren't real human connections but more like a disturbing, false virtual society with an ever changing set of rules that people have associated with real life.(as in,they literally want real life to resemble social media,it has shaped the way they interact, communicate and behave)

I dont disagree with your sentiment but I think you might be taking too much inspiration from sci fi movies, when our reality is quite different. You also bring up alot of topics so it's gonna be hard for me to give a reply to each one so bear with me. You mention brainwashing, negativity, false advice, propaganda. While I won't say those things aren't true, I still think you need to dissassemble those ideals at their core. Brainwashing is a big word and Hanlon's razor suggests that it's much closer to indifference and ignorance. Social media taps into people's inner identity without the restrictions of normal life. These aren't always genuine expressions, sure, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Just because people on dating apps manipulate other's for personal benefit doesn't mean there aren't people out there making friends through video games. Also Im curious, what brought you to my profile?

I got made fun of online :( JK, I've just never meshed with social media. I'm a very private person and prefer to control how much of myself I make public. Social media kinda expects you to indulge yourself in giving out how you look, what you wear, what you eat, etc. The only thing I feel particularly okay with publically releasing is my music taste and even then, that's without any other personal information attached.

People on the internet, but here and on RYM especially, are really wierd about music or artists they don't like. There's a subset of folks who get really snarky about people's tastes and I wonder to whose benefit their comments are for. You see this alot on artists like Oliver Tree or Sewerslvt. Both are controversial artists in one form or another but it rarely feels relevant to the discussion of their music. It's natural to bring up Chris Brown after a statement like that but seperating art from artist is it's own discussion that everyone already has their own pre-established opinion on. If you dislike something that's fine, all art is subjective. But don't throw objectivity out the window. If you're gonna post your critiques at least make them something meaningful. Twitter, among many things, has made people for the worse with these horrible "zingers" that people feel the need to post everwhere.
