Check out David Lindley and Ry Cooder but avoid anything that refers to the Paris, Texas sound track.

Hi, I usually visit all my lastfm-friends a bit closer to new year to check out what they have been listening during the last 12 months. And at the same time leave some tips on what I have discovered last year. But anyhow here I'm now.:D. Late in the year I found [artist]Caitlin Canty[/artist] thru Kickstarter. Other discoveries during the year was [artist]Lake Street Dive[/artist], [artist]Austin Lucas[/artist], [artist]Nora Jane Struthers & The Party Line[/artist] and [artist]Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors[/artist] A band I'm looking forward to see live is [artist]JP Harris & The Tough Choices[/artist] But I still come back to my old heroes [artist]Van Morrison[/artist] and [artist]Emmylou Harris[/artist]. Listened to almost all of their albums during 2014. Have a great 2015.

''Greatest expert in psychedelic rock in Poland'' - it's sounds proudly, hah. but I miss a little more for this title. Ok, he looks so similar to Brian in this photo, but i believe your word :D About the festival: It sounds really awesome, have a good time! c; My problem lies mainly in my age, but also in the fact that in real life I'm very shy and cowardly, go out alone somewhere is difficult for me. Maybe I grow out of this sometime, I really hope ;) Everyday i tried to be more extrovert, talkative, anything, eh. You're a journalist?

By the way, don't you have wrong picture description in your profile? Guy whose described as '' Sky (Sunlight) Saxon of The Seeds'' is Brian Jones, isn't he? (I don't say this maliciously, if something ;))

GTOs terrific? Wow, lot of people think they're terrible xD Though... I don't know why, but i like ''Permanent Damage'' so much. It's funny and adorable on its way. Producer Frank Zappa... That's explain everything :D Not quite know how to translate what you wrote (my lame English), but if I understood well .. I don't know lot about Gong. My friend recommended me this band recently. I just love album ''Angel's Egg'' <3 This is hypnotizing, psychedelic and there is something in Allen's voice, what i love. Are they performing with Allen now? (not been interested in it before). I must hear rest of their albums. Except ''Angel's Egg'', I listened to ''Shamal'', but it don't won my heart as Egg done it. All in all, i think it's very good band and if I had the chance to see them live, I would have benefited with pleasure (all in all i never been in any concert, ugh). Although not listened to them too much. sorry for so much senseless text (I could misunderstand something). What festival?

Today I took to listening and so far I have to admit that 60s Polish music is pretty good o_o I don't have time today to listen most of bands you mentioned (for this moment i heard only two haha), but those, who I heard I was really surprised (positive course). Thanks a lot ;)

Sadly, my Phil Paxton site has already gone down, quite typical in my musical life here :( As far as I know, the Laurence Spring site still functions. I'll let you know when Phil Paxton gets back and running.

Hi DeadKinks, it always lifts my heart to see that great picture of Phil Ochs, the great and neglected. Anyway, I'm writing to tell you that I have removed my Where Did All The Protest Songs Go? album entirely from the Brokenjarafingers site, but transferred all the best of the modern protest songs - often re-recorded and musically changed, like The Bloodlust Of The West which is far less sweet - to http://www.last.fm/music/Phil+Paxton/Apathy+Stalks , and I really, really hope you'll have a listen to some of those songs and add Phil Paxton to your library. Some of the gentler romantic stuff is staying on Brokenjarafingers for as long as he survives now, but most will be gradually transferred to http://www.last.fm/music/Laurence+Spring/Greener+Pastures , so I hope you'll add him as well. All the best, think you were one of my very first Friends back in several other lifetimes.

Hi, Sorry for my delayed answer. Hmm what kind of music are you looking for? I see that you'd like progg. Maybe you would like bands like Den stora vilan, Stefan Missios, Skogen brinner, November, Motvind and Nynningen. Some others are Håkan Hellström, the Tallest man on earth, Jens Lekman, Joel Alme, Säkert!, Mattias Alkberg and Makthaverskan.

If you want to listen to a more modern British protest singer (other than myself, of course!), I suppose the name trotted out more than most is Billy Bragg. I recommend his album Between The Wars.

I laughed when I saw you were listening to Leon Rosselson, a name from the very distant past! I doubt if you could find a lot of Brits who still remember him, like Jamie Lord he was a huge presence on the folk club scene, especially the protest version at the various rallies and things of that ilk. I can't recall him ever having a hit or making any impact on the charts, but for my money he was a superb lyricist, if I bit preachy, and his heart was obviously absolutely in the right place. I have no idea what he's doing now.

Hi Kinky, great to see you back on the Phil Ochs - and Brokenjarafingers - trail! I was so happy with what you wrote about I Wanna Be A Right-Wing Fundamentalist (I don't know if you remember the original scratchy crackly recording, so much cleaner sound now!), but weirdly I was actually channelling Ray Davies and Randy Newman for that one. Phil Ochs is a huge inspiration, especially for Freedom Anthem, which I do think he would have liked, and others that are more Don McLean or Billy Bragg. Anyway, here's the album link for the protesty stuff and the more gentle romantic stuff is on the Solo or only music seems to Last albums on the same pages: http://www.last.fm/music/BrokenJaraFingers/Where+Did+The+Protest+Songs+All+Go%3F
