You listened to any of the recs apart from Thriftworks yet? The Cashmere Cat one is 100% legitness so try that one next if not. Thriftworks perhaps isn't the most immediately likeable choice there anyway in case you're put off.

Dear bro, have you got a chance to listen to any of my recs so far? If so, what did you think?

Oh, and just curious, think you can answer a question man? I promised one of my favorite teachers I would ask. We were reading Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice in his class the other day and we got to discussing the morality and "Christianness" of the Christian characters and their treatment of the Jewish antagonist Shylock. The teacher was talking about how the whole play is now sometimes interpreted as antisemitic and politically incorrect and that modern performances have been boycotted, and that many productions of the play in places with a large Jewish population have edited it to make it more socially acceptable. We were all kind of wondering, are performances of Merchant of Venice usually edited in Israel? Or is it even performed at all there? Or would you even know, hahah?

The tapes of your BM shows I've watched are the closest I've seen any other band come to that video, yeah. During one of those rooftop shows, your final rendition of Rendezvous kind of ended up like that. Tbh, the average summer day here is usually around 28-30C or so, but then there's also usually a buttload of humidity that makes it feel waaaaay worse, I just compared it more to summer because usually in the spring it's only like 18C on average. And nah, I didn't even get his name until I shook his hand when he was getting back into his truck. It was a little after 10 P.M. when it happened and when he first stopped to help me out I was expecting some giant scary trucker guy would come out lol. But he was actually only a little taller than me (and I'm like 160 cm tall, hahah) and he had a really high-pitched voice. And a beard worthy of a member of Fleet Foxes. It was pretty radical.

Also holy shit, there is such weird weather here right now. Yesterday was all summer-y and it was like 24 C when I drove home (blasting Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, of course, it's the perfect warm-weather album), but today it dropped down to 0 C and it started snowing and sleeting like the dickens (IN MAY, NONETHELESS) and I, uh, actually slid my truck into a ditch on the way home because the roads were so slick... well, not all the way, but one wheel got stuck. A trucker came along and stopped to help me out. His name was Mitch and he seemed like a total badass. #themoreyouknow

Seriously though man, seems like the girl I'm friends with and kind-of sort-of like will go a few weeks texting me and joking around like normal, but then she always gets some new "cute guy's" phone number, which don't get me wrong is totally fine and all I guess, but then she just stops texting me and rarely replies to stuff I send for a few weeks and then the cycle just repeats itself. It's so frustrating, ugh. Also that video is so fantastic. Imagine if all rock gigs were like that.

What is it with punkier emo releases and ridiculous amounts of compression? Listening back the Olde Pine one, the compression on this is seriously pumped up. I guess they need it to fill out the sound being a two-piece and all, but just woooaaahh. Still great though.

First impressions: Olde Pine and Airman Trout are the two clear winners so far, I can especially see why you were rinsing the Olde Pine one. OSA were pretty cool although nothing really caught my ear bar a couple of the later songs, I Kill Giants was good but the production is weird as hell. Olde Pine wins so far anyway.

Also I got my pro tools assignment done today real early so I'm ready for an afternoon of twinkliness. Our Sunday Affairs sounds good so far, Airman Trout up next.

Thanks dude, might take me a while to get through em, I have a serious amount of work at the moment and stuff with lyrics tends to seriously distract me but I will get around to it all. Brace yourself for the Joker mix by the way, it's ridiculously over-the-top in it's cheesiness and ridiculousness but it's just so goddamn energetic.

For bonus points, look up Rinse.FM and see if you can catch a good show on there, they always play the absolute best and up-and-coming artists. The british scene at the moment generally is pretty amazing at the moment, I saw a Benji B set the other night and he dropped pretty much only instant classics from the last couple of months, which says a lot about the frequency at which all this amazing stuff is coming out in the UK. So yeah if you're interested have a look at artists like Joy Orbison, Disclosure and Julio Bashmore.

1. Cashmere Cat - Mirror Maru EP (amazing, catchy, poppy, insanely addictive nextlevelbeats. He's going to be huge soon, just watch). 2. Joker - Ghetto Clang Guest Mix (AMAZING mix by maximal dubstep legend Joker. So much energy, mixing skill, great track choices and grime classic Woo Riddim by S-X at around 33:13). 3. Lapalux - Nostalchic (amazing album by Lapalux, he released a ton of EPs which hinted at his greatness and now this is him at his peak I reckon). 4. Thriftworks - Terry-D (free album, top quality Flylocore, loads of great ideas and fantastic production). 5. Kidkanevil & Daisuke Tanabe - Kidsuke (genius album, glitchy beats but with plenty of character and imagination). 6. Sepalcure - Love Pressure EP (a collab between electronic legend Machinedrum and some other dude. Deep, downtempo, luscious bass music).

Can we do 2 EPs for every 1 album? So like 4 albums and 2 EPs. Seeing as you've already heard stuff like Rustie, Flylo and stuff like that I'll rec some stuff that only true beat magicians will be familiar with. I'll pick some stuff and put it in my next shout.

Thanks for saying nice stuff about my ep by the way man <3 I'm going to get back to doing another normal one, I'm going to plan this one out though. Get some source material together, try some more programs and gear, plan it out, etc etc instead of just lump some tunes together.

Alright, here's the plan. I listen to some more emo albums if you can recommend them, and you do the same with next-level $wag #yolo beats. We can beat this. You up for this?

That's good then. I have been reading a lot and spending time with people. I just started trying to cover songs again, I am trying to cover we are all compost in training by ramshackle glory. The chords are just g d em c the whole thing through but I can't figure out a strumming pattern, and I can't strum well while I play anymore :(

Definitely will have to this summer. I need to make a few changes to the world (attempting to add night-triggered streetlamps to the town, and I need to move the spleef arena I built into it) and I have regenerate the Nether and stuff though, will do that after graduation so hopefully we can starting in late May. Also Roy left because he didn't like BM anymore? :( What a jerk move. Would kill to be a BM'er. (Lol, looks I'm writing Bowl Movement'er. Teehee.)

My whole life is going to be so busy. I graduate high school in less than a month, and I've got 10 weeks' worth of work for an online composition class to finish in 2 weeks (le whoops, but honestly I don't think it will be too hard). Lots of things to be doing to prepare for college and whatnot. Fun.

Saw your shout on Zek's shoutbox, of course man, I was going to properly share it among all my friends when I finished it and I literally just did so here you go: http://aspiraldiamond.bandcamp.com/album/100000. It's a bit more minimal and chill due to the fact I had no musical resources other than my guitars at my disposal, so excuse the occasional weirdness and sketchy production. It's really hard to trying to make tunes out of keys and stuff like that haha.

Oh yeah, of course it's about building an awesome Israeli scene, but if you ever do a compilation of covers of artists from your label maybe I can do something. I have to learn guitar and shit first, obviously, that could take a while lol. But yeah, that whole Boston thing is just messed up. It's been a pretty messed up week overall in America. At least North Korea's been out of the news.

And man, it's just so messed up. After it happened the Islamophobia in the country kicked up again right away, so I was relieved when I heard the suspects were Chechen (as messed up as that sounds) because the poor Muslim people in this country have faced enough fucked-up discrimination already. But of course it turns out that the elder Tsarnaev may have been getting into radical Islam, so now I'm worried that the unjustified fear and religious bigotry against Islam is going to come back again. I'm glad they were able to capture Dzhokhar alive, I was so sure he was going to end up dead too, maybe now they'll be able to uncover a motive. I don't even know why, but they kept showing this photo on all the news bulletins and I'm just so drawn to it for some reason. He's only a year older than me. Despite the fact that all evidence points to him being a killer, part of me wants to believe he's innocent.

A digital label?! Dude, that sounds fantastic! I'm sure us foreignerz will eat that up, if BM's success is any indication. (I also hope that means CtY's Ocean will finally get a proper release.) I'd make releasing a split or something on your label a new musical life goal, but I'm actually more concerned about releasing anything *at all* at this point. I've stopped talking about our band because we're all simply too busy at this point to get anything recorded before graduation, and since my main collaborator (not to mention the one with all the recording equipment) got a job 700 miles away for the whole summer, we won't be getting anything done then either. At this point I think I'm just going to buy a cheap Strat and a used bass or something and take them with me to college and learn in my free time and record everything solo. I just feel so disappointed because everyone else in the D-Plan shoutbox is making such awesome music and I'm just sitting on my ass unable to finish anything.

Been super busy. Tomorrow is the Iowa Jazz Championships and I'm a bit nervous because I'll be the featured soloist on one of the songs. We played for the whole school yesterday (which is surely nothing compared to how many people must be in your school, lol) and it went really well so I'm not nearly as nervous as I was at least. We've placed 2nd in the final round for the past 3 years in a row (1 of which was an absolute fluke [and several other schools agreed], 1 of which was close but I still think we played better than the winners, and 1 of which was admittedly a fair loss) but I think we can finally do it this year, one last chance. If we make it into the final round (and our school has for the past 14 or so consecutive years) we won't be home until like 3 AM Friday morning and that sucks but you know w/e
