I do not. Looks like we have the same friends, but have not met the person. In fact, you know much more about the band than I do. ;)

man - listen to Evening Hymns - Spectral Dusk. If there was ever a band that matched your tastes, it is Evening Hymns. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aMeCUZO9ZM They are like Low, but not as boring.

The shows were tolerable, yes. ;) We were lucky Neko didn't cancel due to the flooding and the sickness. She was sick so she canceled the show that was the night before ours. About halfway through her set she introduced her band and I was pleasantly surprised Eric Bachmann was up there. :) Red Rocks was amazing, of course. The weather was good that night. Anyway, my friends had one hell of a time finding a route to pick me up from the airport due to closed roads. And we lost power a couple times due to submerged transformer. My cousin lives in Boulder and everything in her apartment was destroyed. :( As for the OtR album, I got a copy way early because I donated to the Let's Make a Record fund. I'm actually not in love with it. Yet. A lot of the songs just blend together for me. I'll have to spend more time with it.

Les - Just got the new one. Have to listen more, but so far so good. Had the pleasure of seeing them in a friend's apartment last year. It was a fantastic.

Hahahaaa! Stay classy, Les. Stay classy. :) Actually, he mentioned his wife during the show so that put a halt to further plans I had in my head.

I love the current Josh photo because it captures the essence of him so very well. If it changes before you see this comment I'm talking about this one: http://www.last.fm/music/Josh+Ritter/+images/33740667

I definitely don't feel like I was dragged into it since it was something I thought about reading previously. I just don't know what to make of that thing. I obviously don't hate it enough to give up on it. It's just frustrating in general. His style of writing simply makes me NOT care about any of the characters or what happens to them. Now that I'm done venting about it for the time being, I bid you a good night. :)

Yes, that was Blackberry Scone night. :) The show was at College of Saint Benedict...I had to look that up to make sure. I still have the guitar. It's made its home in the corner of my bedroom. I'll get around to it one day. I suck. FYI: I'm finally on page 580 of that Endless Stupid Fucking Rainbow book.

Les! Les! Remember when we saw OtR in that super-awesome venue?! Remember when you sold me a guitar and everyone actually thought I was going to learn how to play it?! Aaaaahhhhh! :)

Remember that time we saw Chris Bathgate?! And we TALKED to him?! Fun times. :) I'm running on virtually no sleep so there will probably be more of these outbursts throughout the day.

Kidding. I'm just sooo jealous. I actually got a shout out from the stage 'oh hi T'. Burns looked over at me for a second wondering who the hell I was. It was a fantastic show and I have finally seen Calexico!

Nah, Bazan didn't ruin anything. I'm here to discuss Jason Isbell's new album. I've always considered myself a quasi-fan but his new album is REALLY fucking good. It just is.

Overseas is lovely. Will Johnson's voice is still as purty as ever. Just in case that was a concern of yours.

The White Buffalo will be at 7th Street Entry on August 28th. I'd be insanely jealous but I'm probably going to see him in D.C. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Also, today is a stellar music day: new Jason Isbell, City and Colour, and Overseas.

Hope you're having fun at the lake! Rules is my favorite song by them. It's also Mary's favorite. We share the same brain when it comes to these things. Have a good weekend! :)

Sure anytime...glad you are liking some of the new stuff coming out. I am brand new to Fossil Collective too, but really like their laid back "old" indie folkish sound. Ola Podrida, yeah the new album is great, I am really surprised more people aren't listening to it. Even Pitchfork gave it a pretty high rating if that matters haha. Anyway, you may like Folly & the Hunter too, their album "Tragic care" is amazing. Thanks and it looks like I should glean some artists from your library too, so much music to listen to, so little time.

There's some Minneapolis goodness in the Dropbox for you. Mary introduced me to them about a decade ago and I was just thinking about them today and am rediscovering since they have a new album out which is quite a pleasant surprise since I was certain they disbanded seeing they hadn't released anything since 2005. I hope you enjoy! I can't really imagine what's NOT to like about them. And if you end up REALLY liking them they only have about 50 Minneapolis dates on their tour list. :)

So glad it made it to you. Feel free to burn the card. ;) Random note: I will never tire of The Whistler. "Devil whispers in my ear, 'It's time for your curtain call' so I dress myself on up with alcohol." *sigh*

v I rejoiced and I have never even set foot in MN. Also, her announcement about this was one of the funniest things I have ever heard. I just keep thinking, there has to be a real person under there somewhere and that side of her must have some sleepless nights worrying over the utter bullshit that comes out of her mouth!

After I posted that link I thought, "Wait. Les LIVES IN MN. He probably hears this news before I do." lol... By the way, you should be getting some Buffalo-y goodness in your mailbox any day now. :)

My problem is I just can't relax enough to sing if I'm worried about other people listening. And if I'm not relaxed, I can't sing (my voice cracks if i'm tense). I think I could play guitar with a band and have a blast, but getting up and playing and singing alone would need a lot of working up to. But someday I will. Bucket list!

Les - Yes, big fan, or gotta say I was a bigger fan in the days of the 1st 3 albums. I had him over for dinner on his tour through town in 2003 (?) or so. Very very nice guy. Lately he's gone to a polished and seemingly more middle of the road direction that I like, but what they hey, still love seeing the guy.

v We must be talking about the Colbert/MB interview? If you felt bad for Matt, dig up the interview with the Black Keys. Les, that is awesome! Hope you're enjoying your new toy. Is that your first classical? Also, my mind is reeling at the whole classic-electric combo... I didn't even know that was a thing! Two kinds of fun!

Ha! You knitted the Minneapolis skyline? Throw that shit up on ebay. I'll bid on it. ;) I'm so very glad TWFM sent you over the edge. You'll never come back. PS: I just listened to the NPR stream of Laura's new album. It's pure sadbastard magic and I had goosebumps half the time.
