I got the double CD of P-Model/Big Body a long time ago, but only really started the deep dive on Susumu Hirasawa over lockdown, after I watched Paprika (soundtracked by Hirasawa) and it became one of my favourite films. You've caught me in the midst of my obsession with him. I feel the early P-Model stuff gets all the attention (because it's on Spotify), but the post-freeze era is literally some of the most unabashedly energetic, layered, and adventurous electronic music ever made. Definitely the best sounding 90s production as well (Aphex Twin is a strong contender for this, but only in the later half). Solo Hirasawa is also fantastic, but his material tends to blur together for me, while the extra band members keep things fresh in P-Model. Okay I might be fanboying here...... I'm super happy that I piqued your interest in them at least. also hi :)

thank you very much... I love YMO discovering them was my main motivation to getting into music 'properly' and a lot of the stuff I like stems from that band :)

I see you've discovered the greatness that is Akiko Yano's Gohan Ga Dekitayo. If there's an album that encompasses all of my musical tastes, that might be it. What a journey.

I don't know why it has taken me so long to check our her work but whatever it was it was not a good enough reason. Gohan Ga Dekitayo is particularly grabbing me right now, it's the best pop album i've heard since The Dreaming. In awe at how it can encompass such a length but still be consistent and excellent with varying atmospheres. I can't deny the YMO production helps a lot as well. I definitely want to listen more but generally I don't feel good about listening too much to an artist when I haven't supported them in any way (don't tell nobody), but I'll figure something out soon.

I think I first heard the live version of Kang Tong Boy and was somewhat intrigued, then heard Rose Garden on youtube and was blown away. But what really got me to jump in and track down some CDs was her cover of Tong Poo, which was already a favorite YMO tune. Upon listening to the album, I quickly realized Akiko Yano was her own beast entirely! Well, the CDs I have were all used so it's not like I've done much to support her, either. I do know the label We Want Sounds has been reissuing her albums on Vinyl, including Gohan Ga Dekitayo, so that might be worth looking into.

I stopped following people back because the spambot situation was fucking horrible and then I forgot following was a thing. So I have followed everyone back. Thanks everyone :)

Sometimes when I'm watching one of their animations my brain fails to comprehend what is happening, because there is just so much stuff going on at the same time
