<3 I also really enjoy it! I love the dark, oppressive atmosphere that reminds me of Night Is The New Day. Also, Jonas really brought his vocals to the next level. He sounds so comfortable and confident while he's singing in ways never heard before on a Katatonia album. I get what you're saying though about the heaviness. The thing I don't really like with City Burials is how the guitars are so low and inoffensive, there's no punch to them as on TGCD for example.

I'm with you regarding Renkses vocals on "city burials", they are stellar. I actually recently named Jonas Renkse as my all-time favourite singer when I talked to a colleague about our favourite singers recently. Ok, I don't really to listen to very much vocal-driven music :D second place is Paul Banks from Interpol, third Matt Berninger from The National. Yeah, I agree with you, there is no punch within Katatonia's music nowadays - the more progressive, the less metal. however, Katatonia always create a certain groove that carries you through the oppressive atmosphere (you named it perfectly) of each album. and in the end, I most of the time feel relieved in a cathartic way. By the way, I'm impressed how much you listened to The Evpatoria Report. It is such a shame that they disbanded, "Golevka" is such a unique album..

Oh, that's awesome! For me, he's definitely up there in the top 5, possibly even top 3. Nowadays? I'd say that The Fall of Hearts had plenty of punch to it! More prog than earlier releases sure, but the riffs hit hard, at least in my opinion. I think a lot of it has to do with the mixing/mastering of the music. I don't know shit about producing music so I hope I used the right words there hahah. Yeah, I mean. With TER, there's something about them that never makes me grow tired of them. Maar is one of my favourite albums of all time, I just never tire of it, it's crazy. They did say on their FB page that they haven't lost the drive to make music together, it's just that they all live so far away from each other and that makes it difficult to create music as a group. With that, I still haven't given up hope for a comeback..

even if it is much too late, I'm sorry for, maybe, having caused any confusions back then… sometimes I'm just stupid. I admire and envy you at the same time because, whell, who doesn’t want to be an artist listening to such great music as an inspiration to create even greater artworks?! I’m only creating cheep cartoonish drawings and am listening to music, which no one could ever associate to anything..

Thank you for the bandcamp review for Templates for Mimesis by The Seven Mile Journey! I'm still not sure but I think they played some of the new music at Vivid post-rock festival 2015 in Kristiansand, Norway. Live they were so impressive.

Hej! How are you? Have I told you that I love to browse your bandcamp page? Just rediscovered Glories and Silent Whale Becomes A° Dream. Do you watch soccer? I have to admit I was sad Sweden didn't make it into the last 16 in the European Championship 2016. I also cheer for Germany but my heart belongs to the Nordic countries and the outsiders. I was so happy when Iceland won against Austria and made it second best in their group. Indeed, I didn't know I could get so emotional when it comes to soccer but it's Iceland - this small island nation is just incredible. Cheers!

Good morning! By the way, do you know more bands who use piano/keyboard or cello in their post-rock? Strings are okay, too, but I like cello better. Have a nice day!

When I was still thinking about listening to Blueneck again (I only listened to their album "King Nine" completely) I discovered your comment about a new album in 2016 in their shoutbox. Then I was sure it won't be a mistake to investigate them further. Now I just finished listening to "Scars of the Midwest" and they just blew me away so I check out the next album "The Fallen Host" right away. Music that you listen to always seems to be worth to check out so thanks for the shout! :)

Merry Christmas! I read that you revisited 'Enjoy Eternal Bliss' by Yndi Halda. Have you listened to the excerpt of the track 'Golden Threads From The Sun' from the new album 'Under Summer'? If not, here you go: https://soundcloud.com/yndihalda/yndi-halda-golden-threads-from-the-sun-excerpt

I really liked your review of Skarntyde on Post-Rock Essentials. Have you seen the new music video from Spurv for their track 'Mellom broen og elven'? http://vimeo.com/137349591 So beautiful. I look forward to see them at VIVID post-rock festival along with the other bands in Kristiansand in September. Greetings from grey, rainy Germany.

'Gamla stan' is on the to-do-list as well as Fotografiska (http://fotografiska.eu/) and many other places. Have you been there? I love photography so I won't miss this place when I'm in Stockholm one day. And you will be in Iceland one day I'm sure. It would be a great place for your art, too. Greetings from the Netherlands (I'm here at the moment.)

I have been to Iceland once and it was brilliant - Reykjavík, the nature of the south, the people, everything there is just incredible. When I flew home to Germany I already missed it and wanted to go back. But one day I will visit Sweden and the rest of Scandinavia, too. I read, listen and watch so much about and from Scandinavia that it sometimes feels like I have been there more than one time. By the way, I really like your style of writing about music. I am not so good in describing music but I am always curious to find new stuff and people who can describe music like you help a lot to decide what to listen to next.

Beautiful art, an awesome post-rock library - and you live in Swedens capital (I love Scandinavia!). I am really thankful the track Black Dunes by This Will Destroy You led me here to your impressive profile. Cheers from a German post-rock raven. ♥
