By the way, nice quote by Hans Christian Andersen. When I was kid, I used to read all of his portuguese translated short stories. Recently, I've bought his complete short stories in English, and I'll try to read it as soon as possible. Do you like him? And oh, sorry for these 3, and somewhat long messages. I hope I'm not bothering.

And well, me... I've been enjoying some Fufanu songs, and I also like Retro Stefson, Sykur, Sugarcubes (Björk, very traditional, isn't she?), and a new rapper, as it seems to me, called Herra Hnetusmjörg. I like his music but I just can't understand anything of its lyrics, so... I also like some 60's bands like Thor's Hammer/Hljómar/Trúbrot and Dátar. I enjoy Rokk í Reykjavík as well, and some Megas songs, and I also heard one band called Stuðmenn which was pretty neat, though I gotta listen to other of their songs before telling more about them. And of course, there's also Múm and Jet Black Joe and Ham, haha. Well, I've actually listened to a lot of Icelandic bands, all of them were pretty good, though not always of my style. And man, are you from Reykjavík? Hahaha, wow, that's awesome! =D Well, greetings from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil ^-^

Hello, I'm sorry for my late reply. I didn't know any of the bands you told me to listen to, so I basically listened to all of them, heh. I wasn't much in these first three guys (or Kiasmos), although they're pretty good. It's just not much of my style at the moment, I guess. Anyway, I was surprised by the lovely surprise that Auðn and Zhrine were. I guess I've only heard one or two icelandic metal bands, but none like those. They're really awesome, man, thanks for telling me about them =) Snorri Helgason and Axel Flóvent's songs are pretty cute. I've liked them, too. We Made God is also good, I don't know why, but they sounded to me as an angrier Sigur Rós, lol. Besides those, einarIndra cover art is awesome, though, as I said, I'm not much in this kind of music currently. And wow, man, Agent Fresco... It's really good, too! I've quite liked them.

7 days. So a bit longer then the festival. Hope you can spot the Northern Lights. That woud be great. I love the northern lights. I only know Dresden by name but I went to Munich a few times. One time to see U2 in the Olympic Stadium. You like the dutch beer? What beer? Heineken? I don't drink a lot of normal beer. More the special ones from the special breweries. Where did went in the Netherlands? I'm form the city called Amersfoort. Before I lived in Apeldoorn. I think you don't know it. Club Meds and the self-titled from Hugar are indeed really wonderfull! My name is Sander.

Airwaves is amazing. Nice that you got an Airwaves ticket for your birthday. Thats a really nice gift. How long you stay in Iceland? Where are you from Germany? Yeah I'm from the Netherlands. I can share the feeling about Iceland. I love it to very very much. It was a long dream to go there. Wish i could stay there for a longer time. That would be so nice. I also want to see the Faroe Islands. Nordic countries are great. Beautiful nature and great music.

I also met him personally, we made a photo together, in the photo he appears like a giant (I guess he is at least 1.90, I'm actually 1.75). It's very fun. What else? I blog here: http://machchapuchchare.blogspot.it/ And I use rateyourmusic: https://rateyourmusic.com/~machchapuchchare Unfortunately at the moment I'm not on facebook because... It's complicated. But I also use it, if we stay in touch, I will eventually give you the address of my page there. For the moment, just thank you again. Which part of Germany are you from? I lived in Berlin for several months. Probably i was wrong to be back in Italy, but that's a long long long story. What else? I really fucking love the Brian Jonestown Massacre. Viscerally. Tschuuuussss! :)

Hello from Italy. I'm Emiliano, I'm 32 and I'm really grateful with your for what you wrote about my reviews. I'm not English and I just experimenting in writing in this language about music because I want to improve my usage of the English first, but much more than this, because I really want to keep in touch with much more people it is possible. I like when someone is going to read what I wrote, because generally every record I'm used to review, it is something that it is worthy to be listened to (in my opinion) and this is valid also when it seems that I dislike an album. I don't want to dislike noone in fact. 'bout me, if you do something, you're always good, I'm going to appreciate you in any case. 'bout the two records you mentioned, I have to say that Matt Elliott for me is something like a genius, I consider simply terrific and amazing what he does and the lyrics he writes, the style how he plays.

Hello from New Zealand! Thanks for the comment a few days ago. I work really hard on my music blog so it is always nice to hear from people who read it. I didn't actually write the Wide Awake review (my friend CJ from the band Ranges did), but I wrote a review of the latest Lights & Motion album when that came out. You should check out CJ's company A Thousand Arms on Bandcamp. They are releasing a great free post-rock compilation shortly.

Tjena! I'm doing fairly well, thank you. How are things with you? Oh, thanks! All the best stuff ends up in my bandcamp after all. A new album from Silent Whale would be amazing. I need more than five tracks to listen to. They're that good. I don't care for sports at all but even I have to admit it's cool that Iceland are doing so well in the championship! The small nation in the north showing who's boss. You're right, it's pretty incredible. (: I'm actually visiting Iceland at the end of november. I can't wait to place my eyes on the nature of Iceland. And of course Reykjavík!

Hey! How have you been? A lot happened in post-rock-world recently: new Mogwai, new EITS, new Hammock, new Tides from Nebula and Long Distance Calling coming up, and so on and so on.... What do you think of the new albums? By the way, you don't seem to have scrobbled much recently... Grew tired with Last.fm and the related problems/bugs?

You're welcome, thanks for passing by! Actually, you've got to thank http://www.last.fm/fr/user/thibaultrivrain for that Tiny Vipers review! I see you've been listening to Besarin Quartet. I've really enjoyed their latest album on Denovali! Considering your music tastes, I suggest you also try Anenon "Petrol", which you might like! Grüsse aus Paris!

yeah, there doesn't seem to be too many post-rock festivals these days.. i guess the genre is dying out, but dunk always puts on a spectacular lineup. i have to say i'm really surprised you couldn't get into yndi halda's first album.. dash and blast has remained one of my favourite post-rock songs for the last 10 years (wow, that makes me feel old). i could make a list as long as my arm of tim hecker-esque recommendations.. perhaps a spotify playlist would be a good way of getting those to you? :) and i know what you mean about olafur arnalds, everything he touches turns to gold.. he composed a soundtrack to a british drama series called broadchurch and even that was fucking stunning. also, have you had the pleasure of seeing kiasmos live? because that is a pretty special experience!

hey there! thanks for the kind message.. it's always nice to hear from a fellow post-rock fan :) though i see we have a few other artists in common like tim hecker and kiasmos which is much more representative of my music taste these days. i think you if you were to start randomnly browsing my library you would find a very eclectic range of stuff haha. i noticed you have dunk festival in your list of events.. are you thinking of going this year? i would be very jealous, it looks great as always! i also must extend a thank you.. while checking the lineup i discovered that one of my favourite post rock bands (yndi halda), who haven't released any music in almost 10 years, not only have a new album but will be playing in my city next month :D so, very happy greetings from leeds, uk!

Hey! So sorry for the belated response, haven't been using last.fm for a while now... this new layout really sucks, doesn't it? I cannot get used to it, and I guess I don't even want to. Also, this Spotify player is extremely annoying. Happy to hear you've discovered some lovely things from the list, End Of Summer is a really good one - and I do love penguins as well. :)

Good evening! Let's see... I'll list the ones I can think of but I'm sure you know some of them already. The Pirate Ship Quintet, This Patch of Sky, Locomotora(Their second album), Slow Meadow... I guess that's it for bands that I know with a clear cello in the mix! Can't think of any more right now. Many more with violins though. For piano/keyboards, try Balmorhea, The Calm Blue Sea, Deadhorse, We Stood Like Kings, Flies Are Spies From Hell... Yeah, I hope at least some of these are new to you!

Hey, personally I listen to Ravedeath more often because its a complete and final product while Dropped Pianos is just a companion EP to it, a collection of simple sketches. I have no doubts you will prefer Ravedeath after more listens, once you make a mental map of it and know every chord by heart its such a treasure. Sadly there is no album like Ravedeath, neither in Tim's own discog. If I had to recommend you another one it would be Radio Amor, though. Its different, more varied and less "monolithic" but still unique. It actually introduced me to Tim Hecker. Most other ambient artists I listen to are similar to Tim Hecker, so you could check out Alphabet 1968 by Black to Comm, Sorcery/Geography by Witxes, or the recent Benoit Pioulard release Sonnet which is very summery, lush and warm compared to Hecker.

Hey mate, Here I was thinking I lived in a bubble on here. I've never had a message before. So anyway, Barn Owl are a great band but they're different from Russian Circles and Her Name Is Calla. They're much more minimal and drone-like. I'll tell you the first song I ever listened to by Barn Owl that got me hooked and it's called Ancestral Star. It's very ambient but it has a great build up, see what you think. Jay.

Hello, thanks for the recommendation you posted on my profile, will check it out. Sadly I don't know any postrock in this dark but jazzy vein, but I hope you'll like Ravedeath and Tim Hecker's work in general. Ravedeath is a really beautiful, subtle and highly re-listenable album. If you happen to like it, I could give you more recs. Greetings from you neighbor, Czech republic :)

Oohhh, well, I believe we do have that! Never drank it though, so I have to will give it a try soon! Yeah, after Last.fm Facebook (especially Arctic Drones of course) might probably be the best source for new Post-Rock-stuff. You should follow PostrockerNL and the Post-Rock Raven (for fun post-rock-related memes) as well, if you haven't already.

Yeah, sometimes I forget to reply for a week, and sometimes I reply within an hour. I've never heard of Paulaner "Russ". I'm not even sure this specific beer is available somewhere in the Netherlands (we do have other types of Paulaner though). And yeah, definitely check out audiolepsia; it's a great album for sure. I don't know if you follow Post-Rock Essentials on Facebook, but if you don't, definitely check out their Top 30 Releases of 2015. I'm pretty sure you'll find something new (I did, at least)!

First of all: sorry for not replying for a week! Yeah, we have great beers over here (including Kriek, though it's more of a summer-beer for me) and Albert Heijn indeed has a nice assortment. But you guys have great beers as well! Warsteiner- and Paulaner definitely belong to my favourites! (And Schultenbraü, Veltins and Finkbraü offer a decent price-quality-ratio as well) So, thanks for that, Germany! On my to-do-list: visit an Oktoberfest (preferably in München!)
