ha, my spotify/apple music scrobbling has been wack over the last few months, seems to keep running into issues. I've been listening to some stuff. Shitloads of Phrenelith still. Been enjoying the recent stuff by Tribulation, Undergang and Dark Tranquillity too,

Thanks for the comments mate. It's a passage by Baudrillard, though at this stage I forget which exact book it's from!

Ha! Yes that was when I went to Iceland, probably like 2016, I put on a face given the entire beach was black ash, then thought well I might as well make the whole photo black and white and play it up! That was a great day.

Haha cheers. Yeah it's been a tough few months, been a bit overwhelmed with working on my PhD recently so if I'm not reading/writing I'm generally listening to podasts/lectures for it I guess. The latest Imperial Triumphant is everything I hoped it would be though.

You still have excellent taste - I've tried getting into Drought but I still don't get it. #PlebForever

Imagine unironically racking up 8,000 plays of entry-level Fear Factory and then posting a comment like this lmao

It's not my fault your taste is entry-level as shit man, don't get mad at me for it. If you ever want to explore metal beyond just what you can find in HMV's Bestselling section let me know though.

lmao you mean how they accepted the unsourced MA lineup as proof of the album's actual lineup? Yeah I'm never going to stop fighting that one

Found you on your old account via the Roads to Judah wiki. I like your writing style and taste in music.

I don't get Drought. To me, it sounds like a weak blackened Dillinger Escape Plan with a couple super derivative post-rock bookends I could find on literally thousands of post-rock albums. What am I missing? #SuperPleb

Haha, I love how your "Recent Tracks" list just shows 20 Daughters songs - and all of them marked with a little red heart!

Nice library/charts -- looks like you've been enjoying some of the same stuff from this year that I have. This has been a really great year for Metal, I think. What are your thoughts on the new Horrendous?

Since you have just discovered and fallen in love with Esben and the Witch: you should definitely try their album 'Older Terrors' which, in my opinion, was one of the best releases in 2016. Its atmosphere is just so dense and the melodies are hauntingly beautiful. Especially "The Reverist" is a true gem!

Yeah I did, I really like the album. Interdimensional Summit's chorus is still total trash but the other songs are pretty awesome imo

Haha yeah! It grew on me a lot. I tore the first single to shreds and still don't like it, but I really like the rest. Dimmu are quite special to me because they were probably the first black metal band I ever heard, and I still enjoy most of their stuff, particularly Enthrone Darkness Triumphant and their other early stuff. It's sent me into a bit of a back-catalogue kick! Thanks

I was starting with Cradle and Dimmu too, though now I definitely listen to more Cradle. I like the new Dimmu album, my favorite song must be Lightbringer, it clicks with me both lyrically and musically. I agree, Interdimensional Summit is the worst song on the album but I like Council of Wolves and Snakes, it's much MUCH better.

You've just reminded me how much I enjoyed those last two Cradle albums. Oops, I guess I have become poser again

Your library is absolutely fantastic in terms of obscure and intriguing Death or Black Metal bands! Guess I'll have to come back to it now and then in order to check out some of them. And I must admit that I envy you seeing Abyssal not only once but twice this year. What a unique band!

Thank you, please do. If you'd like any recommendations (i.e. 'If I liked this, what else might I like?') then feel free to just post a comment here. And I really can't wait to see them again, mindblowing to find out that they've never played live before Reykjavik!

Thank you, as do you! Many of the bands in your Top Artists of All Time section are ones I was super into a couple years back, so maybe you'll enjoy some of the stuff I've been listening to more recently as well.

Yeah I've been listening to some more diverse stuff recently. I strongly believe that good music is good music no matter the genre, you just have to have the patience and curiosity to dig deep, sift through the crap and find the good ones.
