Hi, just noticed you attended Portals and were following me already on last.fm. Following you back ;) How was it? What were your highlights?

Hey! Yeah, it was good fun, I feel a few things need fine tuning if they carry on at EartH (like the food choices) but a great weekend of great bands '68 were probably my favourite, but that's because I love Josh Scogin and his many projects over the years and it's been a long time since I saw them last Maybeshewill, Gggolddd and A.A. Williams take the runners up but every band I saw were great. What about you?

I feel the same about the food, as soon as you have any dietary restrictions, you have almost no alternatives. Oth, I guess having less choices allowed them to serve everything very quickly, once you gave them the order. I had a lot of fun at the '68 show ("This is a new song that you have never heard before. Sing along" XD). That one and Bicurious were pure comedy. I can't pick a favourite show. I've been a big fan of ASIWYFA and Maybeshewill so those were the ones I was looking forward the most and they delivered. Astrosaur at some point gave me goosebumps. VLMV, Ef and Jambinai felt intimate and magical... I saw Mono at ATG but the sound in Hall was miles better, and made me appreciate the music way more. That was also another highlight for me, the sound quality, with the exception of Theatre, where sometimes the drums sounded a bit 'rubbery', it was excellent!

I've been a fan of Maybeshewill since almost the beginning, this was the first time since they reformed that I've been able to see them and it was truly magical. I'm glad to hear the great reception for VLMV, I've known Pete since I was a teenager, he was integral to the local music scene where we're both from and the reason why I got into post music in the first place.

Also, just to add as I somehow forgot to mention already. The Guru Guru were amazing. I've known of them for a while but never really had the chance to check them out and I'm so glad I did

It was indeed I. I desperately needed to pee so I made a beeline for the loo and watched the last of the set from the back, plus my trains back to Brighton were screwy so needed a quick exit. It was an absolutely incredible show, all three bands smashed it

Yeah, it was a really great show. Almost felt like the before times. Pretty good turnout too. Some people were still wearing masks and there's a track and trace system in place in our venues and bars etc. We've only had gigs at normal capacity back for just under two weeks now but the few gigs I've managed to get out to have been pretty sensible with covid precautions

I'm pretty obsessive with music haha, I like to listen to a lot of things and like to check out new bands all the time. It does mean a huge percentage of bands with less than 10 scrobbles but I don't like to edit my library, y'know? You're into some of the same bands I really like so always cool to talk to someone into said bands!

I saw your shout from a few years back. Funny how different my life became. I moved to Ames, Iowa, where metal was a few hours away. Then I moved to a small country town in Australia, where metal is so far removed from me, it's a wonder i'm still alive! Been to any good shows lately? indulge me :-)

I haven't shouted at you on here for at least a year so I thought I would now while I'm in college waiting for my guitar lesson. It's in about 40 minutes and I have literally nothing to do. Ah well, it'll soon come. I assume you're at work at the moment. Hope that's going ok. Also hope you are doing ok. Hopefully get a shout from you when you see this. All the best buddy. Take care.

And you counted too! That's scary how long ago that is, but it really doesn't seem that long if you get what I mean. Life isn't too bad. Working 2 jobs at the moment. A campsite job on a weekend which is crazy busy because of the summer and a Marketing Internship in the week which I absolutely love. I was meant to stay for just 6 weeks, but I'm on week 9 now, so I just keep hoping that they give me days to go in every week now and am just taking it a week a time and anything extra as a bonus. So hopefully there will be a week 10 and more! How is life treating you? Have you been to any awesome gigs since we last spoke?

well, yes, you need to spend at least a couple of days to search for the right time/date and whatever or it will cost a fortune! But if you book in advance, you should be fine

Take a look at the flights, they can be really cheap with wowair or easyjet from London! Well, it's not just about money, it's also that i have to work anyway so i can't spend the whole month hanging around haha

Yep, i think i'm going to see them! In September there are a lot of interesting stuff in London, but i will be in Iceland for a week on that month and i guess that i won't have a pound left after that holiday so i don't know if i'm going to make everything i've planned XD

I have never been a huge fan on Vreid/wannabeWindiragain, I think that they don't make any sense without Valfar. It's just a good way to keep making money, isn't it ? :)

I did - I was quite impressed. I was looking through a "best of 2010" Spotify playlist I made and I'd added Blueneck but it seems I'd forgotten about them - I'm sure I'll remember them now! BTR was really good, though I felt like I was the only person missing all the metal bands. I hoped to catch some of Cult of Luna's set but missed it all. sleepmakeswaves were the clear highlight and they weren't even one of my faves before BTR. What did you think?

It seems that I accidentally found you there as well :D! Amenra have been amazing, one of the best bands yesterday. And yes, no words for Cult of Luna, their performance went really far beyond my expectations. Btw, I never listened to God Seed before yesterday to be honest, I knew well Gaahl for playing with Gorgoroth but I never gave any chance to this project XD. I found them quite interesting though. The only ones who really disappointed me were Jesu, awfully boring!

Mainly Amenra, Cult of luna, Jesu and The old wind! But anyway, i'm quite pleased to have the chance to see even the other ones, i'm pretty curious

.. Both the coverphoto and the description is wrong since stripped, far away, no salvation and termination belongs to a norwegian band named Pravus.
