theres actually a huge coorelation between evangelion fans, omori fans, kanye fans and super mario 64 fans that ive noticed. if someone is a fan of one, theyre likely a fan of the other. its super weird i have no idea why..??? im personally a fan of all 4, but nearly every fan of any of those ive met has been a fan of at least another one of those. its super odd and pretty interesting. to answer ur question, i personally just like evangelion as it kinda speaks to me in a personal way that i dont like to discuss publically, while i like kanye bc of the same reason. so i guess fans of these can associate the feelings they have towards these things as a more deep and depthful personal feeling and thats why they enjoy these things so much

ooh. i've definitely noticed the correlation between evangelion, omori, kanye, etc. i love eva, but only started to kanye a bit recently. might check out omori sometime. i think you're right when you say part of it is the personal aspect. evangelion is a very intimate and emotionally complex series, it seems like kanye's music can be the same way

if you want kanye at his purest (think of it as a spectrum of batshit crazy to calm introspective), i recommend ye, 808s, and yeezus. if you just wanna hear him rap his off like theres no tomorrow, late registration or mbdtf will be the best. if you just want some easy listening, graduation and the life of pablo are best. if you want gospel mixed with rap, jesus is king and donda are good. cruel summer has great songs, same for the college dropout. if you want some rock rap type stuff, kids see ghosts is good, and watch the throne has good energy. beware as getting into kanye is a slippery slope, and you will most likely end up going down the kanye leaks rabbit hole where some 5k+ pieces of music and scrapped and will most likely never be used. i also recommend venturing into interviews and learning about him as it makes his music more enjoyable and makes you see it in a whole new light. happy listening!
