That's great to hear! I think we've seen the same interview were Deego is at a Japanese record store and they ask him about his favorite Japanese band and he says Fishmans, I loved that moment since I really like that band too. About Romance, I saw a video of the intro to the show on YouTube so I could hear a bit more than just the snippet they posted, wish someone fully recorded it tho. I'm really looking forward to seeing them all live because their energy is unreal and yeah, all the lads seem nice but especially Tom seems absolutely sweet. So cool that you got to talk with Curley too!!

yeah yeah, that's the interview i had in mind! i actually got romance recorded (only the second half of it, though), it's fucking unreal. it's honestly my favourite (ha) of the new tunes thus far -- and someone's just gone and uploaded the full gig to youtube, so you can hear the song (and set!) in it's entirety https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahDxuC_FB0o !! i got to chat with the full band - and alex fucking turner LMAO cause he was at the gig?? - aside from deego, which is a bit of a bummer cause he's my favourite of the group but i obviously can't complain too much haha. still buzzing from having met the bunch of them, every conversation i had with them was so great - still a bit tickled over grian and i being able to chat a bit of shit about carlos being "the most gungable member of the band". unforgettable night. amazing lads, amazing performers, amazing crowd.. you're gonna absolutely fucking love them in november !!

Honestly sounds like you had an awesome night, I mean, seeing /meeting the lads AND also meeting Alex Turner must be an unreal experience, and it’s so cool that they were all nice! Also thx for the link! The track is surely awesome and honestly a perfect intro. I think my “favourite” so far is actually “Favorite”! I just can’t take it out of my head. Surely it has to he the next single! Anyways, I’m even more hyped for November!

No way! Did you end up finding a cheaper resale ticket? Got to Warsaw at 7:00 and they said they didn't have any tickets for sale at the door, and Ticketmaster resale kept fluctuating from $117-$188 every few minutes

That's an amazing story. I was just standing outside the venue until 7:45 waiting for the resale prices to drop, they never did and I finally gave up and left to watch the Knicks game at a bar instead

absolutely heartbroken for you. i saw a few times that they dropped to under $100 but then they'd get snapped up immediately </3 hoping you at least get to see them when they come through again in october, cause they were absolutely fucking outstanding last night and i've never been more thrilled for a record than i am for romance

I didn't see the show announcement until 4 pm that day somehow, was brutal. The one time I got to see them was in April 2022 at Brooklyn Steel, but it was Grian's first show back after cancelling a few for his laryngitis, so they played a really short 12 song set

Crazy that people are actually buying the $300 listings on Stubhub. Don't let the scalpers win! I wish I had enough money to just casually throw away like that
Actions
-
aiurrra
i coughed up $250 to scalpers to see fontaines w/ arctic monkeys at forest hills in september, still not quite sure if i regret it or not LMAO. the prices for tomorrow are finally dropping ($170 is still bad but its a step up from $300) so i'm hopeful they'll actually be in reasonable double digits range by the time tomorrow rolls around. and the fact they just announced they'll be at brooklyn paramount in october is enough to - mostly - soothe the sting of potentially missing out on them tomorrow loooool

LMAO im flattered u thought ab me.. if it isnt obvious from the fact ive run up 400 plays on it before its even become a week old, i really enjoy it. i was initially really off-put by it when they dropped the teaser for it on their tiktok but the second the song dropped and i got to hear it in full i immediately understood what they were going for and i really, really enjoy it. the chorus is an absolute earworm, the melody is so punchy i love the interplay of the guitars and how snappy the drums are, and "it's moral tyranny keeping me from thee" is one of the most potent lyrics grian's penned yet AAAAACK im so excited for the record

LMFAOOOOOOOO yea if u saw that recent - which u undoubtedly have - from wednesday night where he’s with a chick wearing a white hat and a white corset, thats myself xx he’s really lovely we didnt have much of a proper conversation (literally just “ah alex, so sorry but d’you mind one last photo?” and he smiled and was like “one last one?” and then i got my pic and he went back into the venue) ;; he was just standing outside having a smoke and chatting w someone and nobody had even noticed him there at first LOL and i had actually mistaken him for a fontaines member at first glance and i freaked out when i realised it was actually him, and i think me going “guys is that fucking alex turner behind us” to my friends made Everyone around us realise cause then al got swamped by the dozen of us hanging out outside the venue LOL. my biggest takeaway from meeting him is that he’s shorter than i’d expected LOOOOL

Thank you! My favourite song right now is probably between Haldern or Opus. They're both relentless and intense. Beautiful. How about you?
Actions
-

haldern absolutely destroys me, it's one of my all time favourite songs -- i wrote a long-winded interpretation of the song in it's shoutbox around this time last year LOL, it's so unbelievably beautiful. opus is also one of my favourites yet i feel like it's so underrated in the grand scheme of their discography, which is so unfortunate considering it really is opus material! science fair and i wont always love you (the latter of which is a stunner live) are also very near and dear to my heart x

I actually read the interpretation! I really loved it, it made me appreciate it even more. Haldern is literally perfect. Those arpeggiating pianos, the bitter violin, the tragic, moody, and painful guitar chords, and that vivid, dreamy, poignant, bitter lyrics and narrative combined wit Isaac's strained, rough, breaking and pained vocals all play a part for one of the best songs ever made. It's beautiful. Opus is so underrated it literally kills me, the final minute is literally incredible. "What we built must burn to the rising flames", this part is literally perfect, especially how he just screams over those daunting and doomed instrumentals. It's amazing. I Won't Always Love You was actually my favourite from Bush Hall, I loved the gothic elements in it.

objectively think it's very good and stronger than alfaa, though i'm personally very disappointed with it. people would always say alfaa sounded very flat in studio and while i've personally always thought the songs sounded fine, i absolutely have that issue with wall of eyes. i saw the smile live in october 2022 and they played four of the eight songs that ended up on wall of eyes that night, and i remember each song feeling so full of life and utterly electrifying that when i sat and listened to the record, i felt so underwhelmed by how washed out and dull those songs all felt on the album. i don't mind songs or albums that have a sort of washed out quality about them, like for example interpol's 'marauder' also has production that results in the music sounding very watered down, yet i absolutely love marauder. why?

the muddiness of marauder's music adds to the dark atmosphere of the album so it actually sounds fitting. it makes no sense for wall of eyes to sound so flat and lifeless when every song twinkles with brilliance, and especially after having my first exposure to half of the record be at a concert, it's truly disappointing to listen to the album and know just how much potential every song had to be truly brilliant on the album, yet, they're not. bending hectic and read the room especially feel handicapped by poor mixing it's also a bit frustrating to have kept tabs on the smile for over a year and knowing their back catalogue like the back of my hand and seeing that they've only given us an 8 song record after two years of waiting and touring so many songs that didn't end up making the cut, lol. i'm sure they have their reasons why songs like colours fly, bodies laughing, etc. didn't make it, but it just feels like extra salt in the wound for WoE to only have 8 songs.

ugh.. i just idkkkk i like the record, it grows on me more with each additional listen, but i'm still always gonna be a bit disappointed with it because it really just feels like the lot of them didn't fully caupture the each song's potential while recording it </3 i definitely prefer alfaa to it all around but wall of eyes is definitely the more impressive record + those songs are all absolutely phenomenal live.. soz for the massive walls of text ehe but I'm Just Being Honest

yr so real. ada's my girl (i'm convinced she would love interpol, lmao), and interpol are my guys (i just saw them 5 times in december 🥴). obviously have a massive soft spot for fontaines, too, and i'm thrilled you're interested in their stuff -- that said, though, i'm always a bit weary recommending them to people because their singer's voice is a bit tough for most people to get into (if his voice doesn't click immediately, it'll probably grow on you over time - it did for me, anyway). twinkle, nabokov, i don't belong and roy's tune are all relatively 'palatable' ones, though they're quite mellow compared to a lot of their other work. their cover of pixies' gouge away (https://youtu.be/rUbb-GMBBOI?t=60) is also a good listen for easing into them. a lucid dream, skinty fia, televisied mind and chequeless reckless are all also good ones if you want to hear some of their rockier stuff x

honestly i didnt know carlos was still active either til i took a peek at his instagram and found out he's been releasing ambient music (he has an album coming out in june, apparently?!) and acting in little projects here and there, mostly theatre stuff. i just moved to NYC a couple months ago hence why literally everyone imaginable is always around me LOL cause everyone always hits up manhattan if they're coming to the states. carlos still lives in the city, maybe like 45m north on the metro from where i live, and the theatre where i'll be seeing his play is only like a 15 minute ride on the metro xx
