When I look at your profile, it gives You both listen to Warren Zevon, Sonic Youth and Blondie. This is also true. I've added a couple of artists I don't recognise o from your playlist as a result.

Not too bad. Working from home still, since the bunch I work for - https://ala.org.au/ - are pretty distributed, anyway. Trying to get on a fire behaviour analysts course, which means that I need to get some stuff out of the way first. Are you still in Darwin?

The fire course sounds interesting. Big need for expertise in dealing with fires. Yes, still in Darwin where we live a kind of nervous normal during this pandemic. Got a new guitar recently and have been working hard on learning. My LastFM charts reflect stuff I am working on like Ziggy Stardust.

Huh. For some reason I'd never cottoned on to the fact you were Scottish. We were just over in the Isle of Bute in January for my sister's wedding. Just sneaked back into Oz in time for the fires to go out and the doors to close behind us.

And again, huh. My father comes from Edinburgh (around Cathcart/Stenhouse) and my sister (not the one who just got married) was there until very recently. My family and I are also stuck. I'm OK because I work for this bunch https://www.ala.org.au/ and it really doesn't matter where I work, but my son is studying to be an outdoor ed teacher and is kind of screwed.

Not bad. It's fire season and I spent the Saturday chasing a grass fire. A car caught on fire and the wind blew the flames across the road and lit the bush on the other side of the road; not a bad effort on the wind's part. One of my crew noted with amusement that I start swearing like a trooper when I'm feeling stressed. My son's girlfriend has done a terrible thing to me and put me onto Busted: Air Hostess. Insanely catchy earworm that I haven't been able to get rid of for a week. Are you still in Ankara?

Lot of that going on around Darwin, where I am these days. Taken a few years but final gotten myself properly established in Australia again. Glad to be back.

Yep, things have turned pair-shaped around here as well. Welcome back to Oz. You might know about this already but if you're in Darwin, visit Fogg Dam. We went up there on holiday about a year and a half ago and it was pretty amazing, full of lillies and jacanas. Just watch for the crocs.

Yeah, fantastic place and a short drive from town. Always look out for the crocs near water!

WA having awesome bands probably has more to do with the fact that WA has no pokies... bands have venues to play and grow.

That was really kind of you. Happy new year to you too! I love BOTH of these bands a lot and have music from both in my collection. :) You chose well! Have you heard of The Volcanics from Perth? You might like them I reckon. There's my NY recommendation to you in return. Have a great year!!

Love it. Bragg is a very heavy handed host but most often its for the good. Great history of science/math/ideas topics and quality expert guests.

Yes, Niagara & The Hitmen was pretty good from memory. Checked it out from an online source. Would probably pick it up if it was handy in a store. Would have been special to catch live.

I really like Swell Maps. Shower Scene from Psycho do some interesting covers :) I will probably look into early Shriekback next. Bush Tetras are another that I think I will check out.
