Hey, thanks! Good question, I haven't really looked back on last year's albums yet, so this is a good opportunity. In hip-hop my top 5 picks are in no particular order: JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown - Scaring the Hoes, Danny Brown - Quaranta, billy woods & Kenny Segal - Maps, Navy Blue - Ways of Knowing, Mach-Hommy - Notorious Dump Legends: Volume 2. Outside of hip-hop my top 5 most memorable albums of 2023: King Krule - Space Heavy, Zach Bryan - Zach Bryan, New Aphex Twin EP, Shame - Food For Worms, Wednesday - Rat Saw God. What are your picks?

I agree! It's quite different, but I always like artists to develop and innovate with each album. I see what you mean about it taking some getting used to, but I felt in a way it was very easy to get into, and possibly a good album for others to begin listening to Aphex for the first time. So I completely agree with you there, it also has a few instant classics on there too. I think I'd have to agree with the best works comment, because he is innovative as usual while being almost paradoxically more accessible to the less-seasoned Aphex listener. I can only hope that we don't have to wait so long for the next release! Ah, and happy holidays by the way! All the best.

Hey there Gombost, thanks for the heads up, I had pre-ordered it but my PC and scrobbling were out of action for a while so I've been listening to the CD only! Great album so far, classic Aphex but somewhat more accessible than some of his previous work. What do you think about Syro?

I complete agree with you. i think people are listening for things that aren't there. I've got good hearing and listen to music in a detailed way with a good speaker and headphone setup. I've heard the LP enough to know it well now. You are probably right about the BoC page. Just annoys me that people try to shut me down when they don't like what you say and it gets personal. This pack mentality develops. Non of my posts started out insulting anyone, what a touchy bunch! Pretty funny really.
