Lately I've had a small obsession with The Gun Club and their album Miami, which keeps creeping upward in my esteem. 2012 was a slow year, the only bands whose releases I really dug were Loma Prieta and Lemonade. How about you?

So I've got some recs for you: Thinking Fellers Union Local 282 - Admonishing the Bishops, King Krule - King Krule, Seefeel - Polyfusia. That's all for now. Send some back my way. I started listening to Dirty Three after spotting it in your charts and my god, it's fucking great so I know you know what's good.

It's been a busy week with Fest and everything so sorry about the delay, but I'm really enjoying John Zorn's O'o. Way more accessible than his other stuff with fantastic guitar work and playing all around. Totally sick avant-garde jazz if you haven't heard of the guy before, but this record goes down really smooth in general, not just compared to his punk-jazz/grindjazz works with his band Naked City. Definitely give it a spin if you're looking for something new.

But seriously, it was an incredibly intense experience. I saw them last year at the Engine Room so I kinda knew what to expect, but they've really honed their live show since then. There's no band quite like Swans, that's for sure.

So here there are, my recommendation (it's not very easy to find something that I like but you don't listen to): The Fall - Your Future our Clutter, Arnold Schönberg - Verklärte Nachte (transfigured night), Tocotronic (the best actual german rockband) - e.g. Digital ist besser, David S. Ware - Godspelized, Babatunde Olatunji - Drums of Passion. Hope you wil enjoy. Maybe you've some recommenations for me, bye, Jürgen

Sup Obi. Dunno if this is regionally blocked, but if it isn't you should check it out: http://www.dr.dk/nu/player/#/dr-k-roskilde/28228 It's Femi Kuti's concert from Roskilde in 2011 - it's only his 26 minute part (out of a 3-hour marathon show, with both Seun and Femi playing a show each, before they went on stage together and played some Fela covers), but it's a damn decent live show, and the quality isn't half bad either. Thought you might be interested in seeing it. I don't know if it holds up to his other live shows, but it's fucking rad. Thanks for introducing me to Kuti back in the day on HFS40K. Best regards, yadda yadda. Enjoy!

Pretty awesome. You probably know the song "Common People" by Pulp, but if you don't, at least listen to that one first to get an idea of whether you'll like them or not. And "Astral Weeks" is just a really chill and awesome album.

Fuck my keyboard! Sorry for the deleted shouts. Anyway, I have a choice between Boris w/ Asobi Seksu and their heaviness and Amon Tobin with his trippy 3D visual show on October 23rd. What should I do? Both could be excellent shows :P

Another music rec (that I've mentioned before) is PJ Harvey. You can't really go wrong with Rid of Me, To Bring You My Love, Stories from the City, or her latest album Let England Shake. But they are all very different from one another: Rid of Me is like Patti Smith with more violence and distortion; To Bring You My Love is like a reinvention of the blues; Stories from the City is usually described as her first happy album, a dream pop masterpiece; Let England Shake is in a more folk style and is basically a concept album centered around World War I. Most people I've recommended LES to seem to have liked it and described it as beautiful, and if metacritic means anything to you, it has an 86 on there (and Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea has an 88 actually). Check her out.

To think I missed Swans in Boston because I didn't foresee that the show would sell out. You lucky bastard.

hey, have you listened to "bert and john" by bert jansch and john renbourn? Great acoustic folk by two great guitarists. Also if you havent give the pentangle a listen, theyre a good folk group with those guys in it.
