Thank you!!! Haha there isn't much here but even if 5 of these bands are playing a real emo subgenre, then you've increased my knowledge by 500%! I'm a member of a danish-language music forum that I don't use often enough because it requires writing out meaningful thoughts in danish; I'm scared to ask and receive the "yeah, obviously nobody has ever played midwest emo in little-bitty old denmark" response from one of them, but I will one day; when I asked them for indie pop, pretty much every 3rd response was "here's a band, and they're shit, and I'm on the liner notes."

my brain is coming up with answers that are probably appropriate (Polaris, Bark Psychosis, Good Night & Good Morning) . you could make it ridiculously cozy w like idm-downtempo-ambient stuff but that's more of a winter move. the summer corollary is to play avant-garde jazz. Nation time (whole LP) by Joe McPhee, Mingus' Black Saint esp the medley track, Mingus "Right Now: Live at the Jazz Workshop" (1966), McCoy Tyner's Enlightenment, Keith Jarrett's Survivor's Suite, Art Blakey's Free For All. These answers are strategically designed to be generally insane but without noise or non-pulsed sections that will get them turned off.

I'm a bad person to ask, I've never been satisfied with anything but Haunt Me and Radio Amor (to the extent that I expect to be satisfied with Timmy). I listen to the other albums infrequently in the hope that they'll each just strike me eventually. I was pleased with Konoyo though and I think it's definitely better than anything since Virgins (the regular opinion) or Ravedeath (my actual opinion).

out of curiosity, have you given Virgins a solid few listens? oddly enough that is the album that introduced me to his work and has always stayed my favorite

Great (and diverse) taste. I'm following you back. (: Ah, check some of the Panopticon's splits! They're very good - especially the second with Wheels within Wheels.
