I‘m glad you did. Stuff like that makes you wonder how many undiscovered gems are lurking in the dark corners of the past.

true, I rarely listen to thrash metal anymore. The name‘s from way back in mid-00s. "Idolatry" is actually a great death/thrash-album from a band called Devastation.

Hello there! I'm writing here because I listened to Velocity: Design: Comfort today! It's a unique and fascinating mix between genres, I really enjoyed it, I'm going to re-listen to it quite a few times :)

it‘s Hum, what do you expect?! but seriously, aoty so far and still the heaviest guitar tone around. I don‘t quite get how they do it. btw have you seen the current RYM-score for the album?

yep, I've studied piano and organ in music school. Now I'm practice for myself on my old piano from time to time, playin' good old Betchoven, Bach, List, Chopin and other classical nibbas. Not long ago I've played Slint - Good Morning Captain on it - tbh it sounded like shit without distortion, lel. Actually I'd like to buy synth.

oh wow, nice one! with I could play the piano a bit better. And now I'm curious how Good Morning, Captain sounded on the piano.. synth is a lot of fun really. I actually did some synthwave a few years back just for fun.

IMO, Pure Guava is peak Ween. They had just signed to Elektra, their band still consisted of a loose knit group of dudes including Andrew Weiss and they were leaving their studio (the Pod) for bigger and better digs. It's really is the best of both worlds for me. Some higher production stuff but plenty of really brown songs as well. Besides the song Mourning Glory I can listen to that album front to back any day. It's not for the faint of heart but if you latch onto Pure Guava you'll probably like it all.

I have a couple of those 33 1/3 books. I don't have the Wowee Zowee one but I do have the Chocolate & Cheese and Kid A entries. If you're a huge fan of an album you may not learn a ton but it's fun to rehash and reacquaint yourself with an album after reading one. BTW, It's weird seeing a compatibility rating of low with GBV, MBV and Pavement in your 7-day charts. Hmmm.

I do like the new Deerhunter, but I tend to prefer their more shoegaze-y or abrasive stuff than the pop direction they seem to be heading. I'm not a pop hater, it's just the older deerhunter I love :) I've been listening a bit lately to this strange Canadian named Sean Nicholas Savage. It's like tongue-in-cheek bowie or prince. A bit silly but he will randomly transcend to seriously affecting music. Any new recommendations from your neck of the woods?

Good to hear the TA show was great. :) Too bad the smaller vanues closed though, that’s where the nicest gigs often are. I’m sorry to hear you dropped out/got kicked out of school. It just didn't really work out? But studying at a radio station sounds awesome too! You’ll probably learn a lot there. :) xx

Was the Converge/Touche Amore show good? If it was bad, that could’ve been one reason why you were a bit put off and didn’t really feel like going to shows anymore? But I doubt that.. But yeah, not many bands coming to Switzerland anymore + the higher prices + not being friends with your old gig buddies anymore are valid reasons too. Contacting them again seems like a good idea, you won’t regret it! :) For your last question: I’m studying International Music Management near Amsterdam, I also work in a clothing store on the weekends. What about you?

Haha, no I’m not straight edge. That’s what a lot of people think. I made my last.fm account when I was about 14 and couldn’t think of a name, so I wanted to go for “xSuzan” but that was already taken. So I put an extra x after it, without realizing how straight edge/hardcore it looked hahaha. It’s too bad you don’t go to a lot of gigs anymore, you probably miss it. Are you too busy with school/work, or something else? Cool that you’re still going to Counterparts, I will attend that gig too but in Amsterdam. :) It’s too bad you missed Amity, but they’ll be back in Europe in the new year, together with Volumes and Of Mice & Men. Maybe they’re coming nearby you too! And yeah, you probably noticed by now that I love going to gigs too. I think that’s where most of my money goes to, haha. I do what you just described earlier, trying to see as much bands that I like, even if that means a bit of travelling. (Although The Netherlands is not that big, so it never takes more than a few hours.)

Ah thank you, that’s always nice to hear. I understand that you just lost it one day. I think one of the biggest problems is that people forget what they’re doing it for.. it’s very common. It’s very easy to stay veg when you just know why you turned veg in the first place! Maybe you’ll get back to it someday. :) x

I have not! I will definitely be sure to check that out because I love the new BAAO. I don't know if you are into the more deathcore side but I have a few friends in the bands Currents and Barrier. They may not be your style though, but check them out and see if you haven't heard of them already :-)
