hey, thanks for the response!!! My personal ranking is 1. Carrie & Lowell, 2. Seven Swans, 3. Michigan, 4. A Sun Came, 5. Illinois, 6. Age of Adz, 7. Silver & Gold, 8. Songs for Christmas, 9. The Avalanche, 10. The BQE, 11. Enjoy Your Rabbit (threw in some compilations in there). He doesn't have any bad albums tbh. I was recently struck by the thought that Sufjan's Carrie & Lowell would go well as an alternate soundtrack for Moonlight: "I forgive you, mother, I can hear you, and I long to be near you, but every road leads to an end... Yes, every road leads to an end." I highly recommend Moonlight!! : )

What's your favorite record by Sufjan, or how would you rank them? I was going to ask that but got distracted while writing the comment!

You've got great tastes! Carrie & Lowell is album of the decade, imo! So versatile -- it's like an all-purpose album that you can relate to no matter what mood, disposition, or stage in life you're in. It's an album about relationships, breakups, motherhood, family, love, romance, misery, self-destruction, drugs, sex, death, heartbreaks, coping with loss, life... everything in one! It's so deeply personal, yet also amazingly universal. It's emotionally devastating, but also hopeful, because you get the sense that if one can survive all this, then we can get through anything.

No worries! Grime is a lot faster and dancier, with some unique instrumentation and punk atmosphere. Some artists that I've listened to lately that have dabbled in the genre include Skepta, Kano, and sometimes Babyfather (Their best songs are New Banger, Lyrics, and Motivation) Industrial hip hop on the other hand incorporates elements of noise rock and unusual song structure. Bands in the genre I've listened to include CLIPPING and Death Grips, (with best songs being Taking off/Dominoes and Get Got or On GP) While both the genre's aren't certainly easily accessible, I've found they are a good way for easing stress, and great during workouts. Suppose that's different for everybody, but I hope this description worked nevertheless! (Also Kendrick Lamar is fucking great! My favorite song from him is probably Blacker the Berry, the Grammy performance of it was crazy)

That isn't that surprising to me actually! The music definitely reminds me of Madvillain, MF DOOM, and so on. (Which is a great thing!) Although I'd admit it's a bit hard to balance between industrial hip hop and grime and more calmer genres of rap like that. Suppose that's a con of listening to everything, I guess.

Thanks for the follow! Funny how a lot of the stuff you listen to is the type of stuff I've gotten recommended to me but never got the chance to listen to. (Quasimoto for example) Guess I'll give it a shot now!

Honestly, I just noticed it when I scrolled down my page. I thought they were going to be fixing up last.fm's new layout but who knows. It seemed more community oriented before and now it's...well, harder to navigate and see your friends. I feel like it defeats the purpose a bit.

Ain't that some shit, more of a reason to listen to his main solo stuff! Oh and ANOTHER concert just popped up (Crystal Castles on March 11th) but the idea of there being no Alice is a huge turnoff.

Also just found out DIIV is coming in May so I'm kinda interested in that now lol. I'm sure both UMO and Wavves would have been fun, but I'm sure I'll have another opportunity one day. As for Kamasi Washington, it's just a solo jazz artist. Really good stuff if you're interested in jazz. He only has one album though but it's like 3 hours long.

I honestly haven't been to a show since Mac. I was tempted to go to Wavves and Unknown Mortal Orchestra recently but didn't feel it was worth the trip to NOLA. I like both bands, but I'm not like super obsessed with them to wanna go solo. Kamasi Washington and Starfucker are playing in a few months and I'm considering Starfucker, and maybe Kamasi because I have a friend that might be interested, but only if he would wanna go. You?

I can see that being kind of annoying (free show + campus = bad combo), but this show seems to have 2 opening acts, and I'm sure everybody is just going to be high and chill the whole time so it should be a guaranteed good time.

No and I still hate myself for not going. Only reason I didn't go was cuz none of my friends like him for some reason, but I refuse to miss him this time.

New album and EP are both equally good. I mean they're not as good as 2, but both are worth over listening to imo. I also grabbed my tickets already, but you sure go anyways, it's freaking Mac Demarco!
