Haha yeah I definitely would have gone if I'd known you were there too! Gay bars can be great fun, I'd take a night out at Pulse in Cardiff over Walkabout any day.

hey Danny! it's Malcom from arrange and I figured I'd give you a shout about my Kickstarter to fund the release of my upcoming Mini-LP New Memory. I hope you'll take a look and consider spreading the word. It would mean so much to me. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1262217745/help-get-arranges-new-mini-lp-new-memory-to-vinyl

yeeeaahh. Got guestlisted for Monday, 3rd time I saw 'em, and I had a great time even though I went on my own (lols). Probably my favourite live show, just a perfect mix of fun, laughter, great music and just all round happy vibes. They are all the nicest guys, they gave me a t-shirt afterwards too. Got so many hugs, haha. The opening track to the 2nd album is strange to listen to without Calum and JBJ (the singers) coming round hugging everyone. I'm glad you saw 'em though, I half made it my mandate to tell people to see them til they relented. For everyone's own good. I shall miss them greatly. I so want to go to Newcastle (the very final show) but getting there from the Isle of Wight is a pain to say the least

The first three songs are Zomby - Witch Hunt, Pariah - Detroit Falls and Letherette - In July Focus. Jah War by the Bug turns up halfway through. I recognised a fair few of the songs, I just can't put names to them.

Glad you liked Algernon Cadwallader - I saw 'em in Leeds over the summer and they were ruddy brilliant. Check out their new album Parrot Flies too. I actually kinda put the Princess Diana song on as a joke haha, but I'm pleased you enjoyed it. It came on a CD that was free with The Wire magazine. I need to work out the tracklist for the mix CD I received, which had lots of Hudson Mohawke/Rustie type electronica on it. Much more cohesive than mine!

lolol, that's what I was aiming for. I didn't really put any thought into the tracklisting - I just wanted it to be as disjointed as poss. Hopefully you found some cool stuff on there amongst the Oasis and Sugababes tracks haha.

Right, I didn't get free tickets this year, but, as a laugh I asked Gareth of Los Camps on Twitter if they could get me in, and he's replied a couple of times currently at 'we'll see what we can do'. Of all the lols I've had with various bands this could well prove to be my finest. We shall see.

and yeah, I really wanted All I Want too, that would've been great. Yeah was pretty boring. Get Innocuous I could take or leave tbh. Still it was a good night really. I went to ATP, really expensive tickets, and hit and miss with bands curating, but sleeping in beds, showers, toilets, no mud were so good. pints were like £3.20 too, which is pretty much the price we have to pay in pubs in Canterbury. After that mud debacle and how much I ached (and only being there 2 of 3 days) I think that non tent festivals are the way forward.

Toro Y Moi didn't show up? What a douche. I missed him at Lounge on the Farm back up in Canterbury too earlier in the year. I got a free ticket because my mate was on the line up and we couldn't be bothered to stay longer than the first day. Got to see Male Bonding and get sunburned to fuck for free so that was pretty great.

I missed Flaming Lips. Didn't see anything on Saturday. The mud was too much, wrecked my shoes etc. I just went back home and rested up. Felt so much better for it yesterday, was excited about bands again. I didn't pay for my ticket so I'm not really fussed about missing a whole day - but I'd have liked to see Roxy Music again and Flaming Lips. Festivals should be on concrete. YEAH.

Neon Indian was really great. Everything was tight and the sound was really huge (which actually worked). Everyone was there for Deadbeat Summer and that was the worst sounding song they played (hahhaa). Worked great as a full band, really enjoyed it. I was on the railing for LCD. They did seem to play all the 9 min songs I could take or leave though ha. The sound was better first time I saw them, but still, awesome. Fever Ray was undoubtedly my highlight. Closest I'll probably get to seeing The Knife. Caribou was good though I was basically at the back. I thought that walking back to my parents' would be a better idea than camping. Would've taken me about 4 hours in darkness and no pavement and this car of 17 year old chav types pulled up about 5 mins into my walk and said 'you going to sandown' and got a free lift. actually fucking amazing.

Yeah, I get what you mean. I think I like it so much because i had such low expectations for it. I wasn't really a fan of Neon Bible at all. Really surprised by it though, so much so i'm going to buy ticket to see them at one of the worst venues in the WORLD, the SECC in Glasgow. I have to REALLY like a band to go that place. Pretty jealous you are going to Bestival, by that way. The line up is so incredible this year!

I've been hearing about their new album lately, which is why I started listening to them today actually. I can't seem to find Meursault at my usual sources, but I'll definitely keep an eye out for it, thanks!

Since you were the one who rec'd them to me, I thought I'd let you know that today I had a bit of an epiphany concerning the National. I don't know what it is, but I've been listening to them on and off for a while and today I just got it. They're fantastic. So thank you. :)

They are really weird to listen to. I love love love To Be A Brilliant Light and there are maybe two songs on shindig I enjoy. I think it's interesting to hear where they came from, you know? I almost never listen to those songs but they sort of fascinate me.

There's a few I do like, yeah. Atease seems to be down at the moment but I have another place I can check for them. I have two really early demos: the 1990 shindig demos and the 1988 woodworm studio demos. I also have the Manic Hedgehog demo, but that's more common.

Oh, they're early demos and a lot of them suck, tbh. They're amusing. I think I found them on the ateaseweb.com message board. I haven't been there in forever but I can go look if you like.

I know... That's the worst one. I want to go back in time and make my past self listen to Radiohead or something... but I figured it out eventually. I still enjoy RHCP to a degree, but I'm mostly about John Frusciante's solo stuff. It's pretty hit and miss but a lot it's worth it, in my opinion. And of course when Flea and Thom Yorke played that concert together I pretty much freaked out. Harrowdown Hill with that base was amazing.

Oh, I could have sworn I'd replied to you a while ago! Sorry. Anyway, yeah. Um. I started out really obsessed with U2. And then the Red Hot Chili Peppers (I still think Flea and John Frusciante kick ass, but the band as a whole... not so much). And then, er... the Goo Goo Dolls. That was an unfortunate stage. And recently my friend made me listen to Lady GaGa and I liked it. D: That made me question my identity a bit but whatever. At times I just need to get the pop out of my system. So... Those are my musical confessions.

Yeah, I totally understand that sort of emotional connection to a certain album. I feel that way about some artists I'm sort of ashamed of, so... yeah. Anyway, I've been listening to Humbug all day and I love it. I can definitely say I like it a lot more than their first two. I do like those albums, especially the first one, but this is just much more my type of music.

Well, that's quite the coincidence. I was listening to the whole album, but I got stuck on that song... Now I'm back to Cornerstone. Honestly, I like this album better than their first two.
