This is not real anger though, just a style of music that’s fashionable. There are many similar bands in the UK at the moment and none of them talk about politics in their lyrics, and I really don’t believe they’re genuinely angry. Anger is in rap and grime music now, it’s the new punk.

Simply my recent observation. I don’t listen to rap or grime but whenever I hear any, the lyrics immediately catch my attention because they’re political , they have a message. I don’t think many current punk/indie/alternative bands use their songs to convey political messages. Idles maybe? If you can think of other examples, then please do tell me. I would hate to generalise in an unjustified manner
