As beautiful as the voice/guitar/drums only version is, I can’t listen to it without humming the absent bassline. It really made the song even more powerful and perfect, imo.

"outstanding drum work by sir mccartney " McCartney drummed on this?? I did not know that Indeed! Ringo walked out in frustration during the recording session(s). When he returned he found roses on his drum kit welcoming him back!

Having listened to the SatB version countless times, the "The sun is up, the sky is blue..." part just seems too fast when I listen to this. Still magical though.

I always thought of it as a combination of Brain Damage, and I'll Stay by Funkadelic.

I love how the beatles changed through the years to reflect the moment in time. From pretty boys with suits and ties singing love me do too dropin tabs with hippi hair singing I am a walrus. Each was reflected to what was going on at that moment in time in the lives of ordinary people. makes me wonder what would there music and be like today if the fab 4 were still creating music.
