"Dear Prudence" was written by John Lennon, and credited to Lennon/McCartney. It was initially performed by The Beatles and is the second track on the 1968 double-disc album The Beatles (also known as "The White Album"). It was recorded in one take at Abbey Road on 28 August 1968.
Lennon wrote "Dear Prudence" to lift the spirits of Prudence Farrow, sister of actress Mia Farrow. John and Prudence met at the meditation retreat of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in Rishikesh India, which she attended with Mia, and Lennon attended with fellow Beatles band mates Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr.
